Traditional financial planning assumes you have already have some amount of wealth to manage. There is often a minimum threshold (ie. $500,000, $1 million) to work with a financial planner. At my practice, the focus is on intentional wealth building and there is no minimum threshold to begin working with me.
Traditional financial planning involves meeting with the financial advisor for an initial discovery meeting, where they collect your financial data, take note of your goals, and assume custody of your investments. A few weeks later, you meet with the advisor where they present your financial plan and answer any questions. Some advisors follow up with the client quarterly, but most do not follow up for another 12-24 months. A comprehensive financial plan typically costs $3,000, plus the advisor will typically charge an Assets Under Management (AUM) fee of 1% (industry standard) for managing the investible assets.
My main offering is a 1:1 consulting experience through monthly meetings as an ongoing engagement. I meet you where you are and provide guidance and support at every step of your money journey. The path to wealth is not straightforward, and I am here to help you navigate the bumps and hurdles.
I do not manage your accounts or take into custody your new/existing accounts—I advise on investment strategies, but the client is in control of the account the whole time and has the responsibility of executing any transactions. I charge an Assets Under Advisement (AUA) fee of 0.5% and only charge this fee if you engage with me for investment advice. I charge a monthly rate of $208 (discounts available) for my financial planning services. I am a fee-only advisor, which means the fees that I charge are solely for my services and that I do not earn any commissions. Please see the Pricing page for more details.
Traditional financial planning may address some of the emotional aspects of money, but is otherwise focused on the numbers in the plan. Recognizing that 90% of money decisions are emotional, I take a feelings-forward approach to finance and provide space to acknowledge those feelings and emotions that are tied up with one’s money beliefs.
